Uses :
Essential in modern chypre and fougère compositions as an IFRA-compliant replacement for oakmoss, providing mossy character and fixative properties.

Oakmoss is the most important ingredient in Chypre and Fougere fragrances and when used in small amounts it adds softness and beauty to virtually all types of perfume. But sadly the material is now highly limited in use by IFRA standards (0.1% of the finished product). Making up nearly 16% of the natural absolute is Atraric Acid, aka Veramoss® or Evernyl

Use this powdered material to boost natural oakmoss, or on its own for the wonderful scent it has in its own right. As with most aroma chemicals, there are varying qualities. Veramoss is the finest quality.

Veramoss was a key material in masterpieces such as Polo (1978) by Carlos Benaim for Ralph Lauren, and forms a whopping 10% of Baccarat Rouge 540 (2015) from Maison Francis Kurkdjian — formula below. It is found in varying amounts in thousands of fragrances.

Veramoss blends incredibly well with natural oakmoss, whether it be the IFRA prohibited pure Green Oakmoss from the former Yugoslavia, the elegant IFRA compliant Oakmoss Absolute IFRA 43 of LMR or the sublime decolorised Oakmoss Absolute MD 55 PCT TEC from the same.

As with most crystalline materials, we recommend adding this pure to your fragrance juice as it will dissolve in solution.
