Odour Family : Gourmand
Odour Profile
Ethyl Maltol presents an intensely sweet, cotton candy aroma with caramellic undertones, subtle fruity facets, and a warm, confectionery character that’s significantly stronger and more persistent than regular maltol.
Uses
Enhances fruity and floral notes in fragrances; excellent for adding powerful sweetness to gourmand, oriental, and berry accords.
Switching between hay and tonka beans depending on the context of the material in a fragrance, coumarin is one of the most widely used and popular synthetic aroma chemicals. It was the first synthetic used in a fragrance.
A touch of coumarin can naturalise vanillin giving a truer note of vanilla beans, while an overdose contributes a wonderful cut hay scent.
